Origin

Built by two
Michael Anthonys.

MACON is short for Michael Anthony Construction. The two founders of the firm share both their first and middle names — a coincidence that, after the introduction, was hard to ignore.

The partnership is not. We came together around a shared conviction about how construction should be done in the Greater Toronto Area — and an honest view about how much of it presently is not.

MACON Build was founded to be the construction and development partner discerning property owners, designers, and investors keep asking for and rarely find.

The Partners

Two principals.
Both on every project.

MACON is structured so that one of the two founders is personally accountable for every active engagement. Together, they bring more than three decades of construction experience to the firm — and a shared standard about how building should be done. No project too small to receive a principal's attention; no project taken on if it cannot.

Michael Anthony Guarino

Co-Founder & Principal

Michael's career spans the full range of residential and commercial construction, with a particular focus on major renovations — whole-home transformations, structural reconfigurations, and adaptive reuse projects that reshape how an existing building is used. Hundreds of projects across the Greater Toronto Area sit behind him, each one a study in the discipline of building within constraints already set by what is there. The patience and rigour that work demands is the foundation of the partnership behind MACON.

Michael Anthony Marquez

Co-Founder & Principal

Michael's career in construction began on the residential side and has stayed there by choice. He has led the build of custom homes across Etobicoke and the broader west end of Toronto — working closely with homeowners, architects, and interior design teams from foundation through occupancy. His focus is the ground-up custom home: the building type that demands the longest engagement and the most patience to do well. The standard he sets at the start of a project is the one his clients live with for decades after.

Philosophy

What we
believe.

Great buildings are made by people who care about the details no one will ever see. The unseen joints, the squared corners, the patience to do it right the first time. These details add no line item to the invoice — and they are the only things that determine whether the work lasts.

We believe construction should be honest, well-managed, and quality-driven. We believe deadlines matter, and we believe the trade-off between speed and quality is usually a false one, owned by builders who haven't done the planning work.

We accept a limited number of projects each year. The constraint is deliberate. It is what allows us to do every project the way we said we would.

Approach

Three principles guide
every project we accept.

i.

Discretion

Our clients value privacy as much as craftsmanship. We work quietly, communicate carefully, and treat every project — and every home we enter — with the confidentiality it deserves.

ii.

Precision

Tight tolerances are not a finishing touch — they are a discipline that begins on day one. We measure twice, plan obsessively, and refuse to rush the things that matter.

iii.

Permanence

We build for decades, not delivery dates. Material choices, structural detailing, and finish work are made with the long horizon in mind — because the best work outlasts trends.

Begin

The right project
begins with a conversation.

If you are planning a residential, commercial, or development project across the Greater Toronto Area, we would be glad to hear about it. The earliest conversations tend to be the most productive — for both sides.
